Omotola talks about her Time Magazine honour

In April 2013, screen goddess Omotola Jalade Ekeinde (pictured above with Justin Timberlake) was honored as one of Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People in the World. According to Omotola, it's an achievement that will forever linger in her memory. She tells Encomium magazine:

"It's a great honour. Sometimes you really don't know your worth and people around you may just take you for granted. I was selected for a number of reasons. From what I was told, they watch a lot of my movies up there. The person who wrote my profile is actually the movie critic for Time magazine. He had been introduced to some of my movies. He also got to know about my other activities, including human rights activism and others. They also conducted opinion polls from those that follow what's going on in Nollywood. I think the opinion of the organisers is based on this. I wasn't the only person picked from Africa. There was another guy from Egypt but he's white and lives in the US. He is a blogger. I was the only black African honoured and out of the 100 honorees, they only picked 20 of our portraits displayed in the Time Work of Fame, and my picture was there. Not only that, it was given the pride of place. One thin I noticed was that from the moment I stepped onto the red carpet, I was treated like a queen. I was on one of the best tables, sitting with US Vice President, Joe Biden and others. I think it was a good moment for Africa. It was one of the few moments I felt like Africa has arrived.

Desmond Elliot dares all: I'll refund your money if you don't enjoy The Place

 The place, a comedy flick written by comedian, Mr. Patrick is the story of a book stolen from ‘The Place’ by an evil man. It needs to be retrieved before the evil man destroys the world. Two unlikely heroes, Bishop Imeh and Mr Patrick decide to take the bull by the horn; the unfolding plots, dialogues and special effects form the basis for the ‘biggest comedy movie in recent times’ according to producer and director, Desmond Elliot.

Produced under joint production of Uche Jombo Studios and Denziot Production, The Place will be released directly to DVD on Monday, June 10, 2013 nationwide through Denziot Production.

MR. UNIVERSE NIGERIA 2013: Marcus Pius Emerges The New Winner!

 

24 year old Pius Marcus from Edo State beat 33 other male contestants to win the 2013 Mr Universe Nigeria which took place on Saturday June 1st in Lagos. Pius is a 300L student of Fine Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.

The new Mr. Universe Nigeria went home with a brand new Honda Accord and will represent Nigeria at the upcoming Mr. Universe Model Pageant in Dominican Republic.

Durella set to move to D'banj's DB Records

King of Zanga, Damilare Okulaja popularly known as Durella hasn't moved to D'banj's DB Records yet contrary to earlier reports, but he is planning to move. He explains why he wants to move to DB:

"I am still signed to Iconic Music but there's a quest to move to DB Records. I want to pitch my tent in the international scene, that's why we gave DB Records some consideration. I think it's a platform for international advancement. I want Sony Records to take over the management of my music career. I also want international distribution for my works. D'banj is my friend, I am presently living in his house. We have not signed an official contract, but very soon, it will come to pass.

Today is the birthday of star actress, Genevieve Nnaji. She was born on May 3, 1979. She is from Mbaise, Imo State (Nigeria). She attended Methodist Girls College, Yaba. She began her acting career at the age of 8, when she featured in the popular 80s Nigerian soap opera, Ripples.

The first Nollywood movie, she appeared in was the 1998 movie, Most Wanted. Since then she has gone on to establish herself as a fan favourite and one of the leading actresses in Nollywood. Some other movies, which she has featured in include Mirror Boy, Tango With Me, Bursting Out, Ije: The Journey, Silent Scandal, Beautiful Soul, Letters to a Stranger, 30 Days, and Girls Cot.

Lil Wayne hospitalized after another seizure; says he's an epileptic

According to TMZ, rapper Lil Wayne was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A on Tuesday night after suffering another seizure. He was treated and released yesterday morning.

Wayne then did a radio interview yesterday afternoon and explained he's an epileptic, and has been suffering from seizures since he was a kid

Jim Iyke's ex-fiancee Keturah Hamilton claims she was acting out a script on his reality show

Jim Iyke's publicist claimed last week in a statement that the actor was not in a relationship with Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari because he was still in a relationship with his Jamaican fiancee, Keturah Hamilton. Well, according to a statement released today by Keturah's camp, she and Jim Iyke are no longer a couple. They actually broke up a while back. And she also claimed that Jim's reality show and her role in it was all scripted. See the statement from Keturah's publicist below...

Keturah Hamilton had acted out an edgy script of jealousy and rage towards Jim Iyke, that was delivered as well as any actress in Hollywood. Keturah was so good that even her fans were astonished to see how well she acted and was able to challenge Jim on his bad behavior. Boldly, Jim gave Keturah the opportunity to exit the reality show based on the controversial episode. Even though a pre-recorded version of “Kiss and Make-up” was on stand-by to be aired, Keturah already had made her decision.

For the time being, Jim Iyke and Keturah Hamilton are no longer together because in reality, Jim’s bad boy behavior was just too overwhelming for the reality star. Keturah has decided to move on to the bigger and better things that her heart has long been looking to do. She quotes, "I wish Jim well on his show and hope that he matures into the man I always wanted him to be!"

Keturah is currently in a new, reality-based show called "Diamonds in the Rough". We will see more of Keturah Hamilton on the big screen and on other future projects on the works because as they say, “It's not over until the fat lady sings!”
